Appropriate Project

Project: Multicultural Survey
The teacher of this classroom had mentioned from the beginning of the year that this was her multicultural class, but she also wanted them to understand their differences more clearly.  For example, one student had the mistaken assumption that all students who spoke Spanish came from Mexico.  She wanted them to change their perspectives based on their understanding of each other.  We collaborated with her during the project to get her opinions on the survey, and we also collaborated with the students before and during the survey by adapting and explaining questions based on their responses and their nonverbal expressions.  Each time, we completed a survey was somewhat different based on the students and what we observed from the previous class.  Overall, we adjusted and adapted the survey to make it as appropriate as we could for the students.
