Aunt is in charge of the cooking. Dad is in charge of driving, paying bills, and the yard work. Brothers/sisters clean, complete homework, wash dishes, cook, and help with outside work. No one person is in charge.  We take care of each other, and things get done without having to assign a job.  We work together.

Question: Which behaviors are considered socially acceptable for boys versus girls at different ages?

Specific Responses: My sister and I are allowed to stay home, and my brother isn't. A boy cannot slap a girl where a girl can get away with it outside of school. Boys can horseplay; girls can't. Girls get it worse because we expect more from them. Girls hardly ever get in trouble. Girls get away with having long hair, but guys can't. Girls like shopping, but boys don't. Girls put on makeup, but boys don't. Girls can spend more money than guys. Guys do more stupid things.
