Big Books
Big Books allow media specialists and teachers to read a book and have everyone see the words and picture, an important resource for helping beginning readers.
Biography
This section will give students and teachers a resource to explore more about current or historical people they are studying in their classes.
Concept Books
Shape books can be used to help them understand the various shapes in geometry.
Easy Nonfiction
Media specialists can read easy nonfiction during students' time in the library that coincides with what they are learning in class like insects for science.
ESOL Materials
These materials can help students learn the written English language by giving them easy to understand vocabulary.
Hi-Lo Books
Hi-Lo books will give the struggling readers a chance to read an interesting book or the same required book for upper level readers like The Last of the Mohicans with a simpler vocabulary.
Multicultural Literature
This literature will meet the interests and needs of a diverse student population, especially the growing Hispanic and Asian population, and gives students outside of that culture a glimpse into what their life is like.  You can also incorporate these books into special holidays that occur in different cultures like Cinco de Mayo.
Nonfiction
Nonfiction gives extra information on topics students need to use in their research while in the library, and every grade does some sort of research.
Picture Books
Media specialists can read picture books that tie in with the curriculum being studied in reading classes like mysteries for inferences.
Young Adult Fiction
During book talks, the media specialist can share fiction titles and excerpts from the books to encourage reading.
Reference

Maps and Globes
Teachers or media specialists can use maps and/or globes to show where the book's story or information took place.
Newspapers
The library can keep a few newspapers ready for students or teachers to read while in the library and to help with current event assignments in classes.
Periodicals
Student periodicals give students short articles that help them find information about topics they are interested in, and they can read it while in the library.
Teacher Periodicals
These periodicals will give teachers ideas and will help them build the resources in their class.
Supplies

Games
These games can be used in the classroom to review information or prepare for a test.
Kits
Kits will give students a chance to actively participate in a storytime with props.
Posters
These posters can encourage students to read and provide a welcoming atmosphere in the media center.
Science Equipment
This equipment will be a shared resource for the science teachers who need it in a central location and can also be a means to create collaboration opportunities.
